The Stone Warden

Along the rugged coast of Ihrydia, the Stone Warden loomed, a monolithic sentinel carved from the cliffs themselves. With arms outstretched, encrusted with teal crystals that pulsed faintly with ancient magic, it stood as a silent barrier against the chaos of the Abyssal Sea.
Villagers whispered that the Warden was once a mortal hero, turned to stone by the ocean gods as a reward—and a curse—for defending the realm from a tide of eldritch horrors. By day, seabirds nested on its massive shoulders, and by night, its crystals glowed like distant stars, weaving an unbroken barrier of light across the waters.
Few dared approach its moss-covered feet, but when storms rolled in and the waves rose like towering beasts, the Warden’s eyes would spark with power, and its voice—a deep, rumbling hymn—would carry on the wind, commanding the sea to yield. As long as the Warden stood, Ihrydia’s shores were safe, though the villagers always wondered: what might happen if it ever crumbled?
